Wired’s new Business and Visual Novel app features a handy shortcut to quote “I am” in a visual novel.
In Business, the text is “I’m an artist who makes comics.”
In Visual Novel, it’s “I made a comic, and I’m happy about it.”
The quote appears to be part of the game’s narrative.
In the game, the artist is called “Kamito” and works in a shop in the Japanese capital.
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Kamito says the quote is actually a joke from a commercial that he makes.
“It’s a joke that I made to sell my comic to a Japanese company that wanted to make a commercial with my work,” he told The Post.
“I wanted to sell something I love.
I made a joke.
It’s a bit weird.”
In Business, you’re tasked with finding a company in Tokyo to send a shipment of “KAMITO” comics to.
In Visual New, Kamito asks a random Japanese company’s employees for their opinion on whether the comics are “good” or “bad.”
In the end, the company agrees with him, and the artist receives a full set of copies of the comic.
The artist then takes it to his studio and creates a comic in his own image.
