Trump will nominate as Ambassador to Israel Jonathan Apa, who served as a senior aide to President Donald Trump, to serve as ambassador for peace and regional stability, a White House official said on Wednesday.
Trump named Apa to the post last month after his confirmation hearing as a former top aide to the president and White House counselor.
Apa was named to the position in December, after Trump nominated him for ambassador to Turkey in 2015.
He previously served as special envoy for peace in Africa and Middle East.
The Trump administration has been considering other ambassadorships for years, including to France, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Belgium.
